To promote the book’s culture and reading habits, The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP launched the First Mobile Library service. The inauguration ceremony was held in CM Secretariat Peshawar where Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan was the chief guest.
This is the first-ever initiative launched by the KP government where students will be able to get books at their college/university doorstep with good discount rates. The KP government also aims to launch Toy Library to go from village to village. Initially, two vehicles will move across the KP for the promotion of the book’s culture and reading habits. The students will get 30% discounts on the purchase of books from the Mobile Library.
A spokesman for the Tourism, Sports, and Culture Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the project has cost Rs12 million under the KP Directorate of Youth Affairs. He further added that both the vehicles would be available for students at the University of Peshawar campus.
After the succession of this initiative, the project would also be extended to the other colleges and universities of the province.
